Well, I am finally going to blog about my Kota Kinabalu trip (7-10 May 2009). Have been doing up the Design & Environment Camp 2009 blog for the past week such that by the time I finish all the stuff, I am too sick of blogger to want to update my own blog.
Morris was the local guide and he told of interesting facts and figures of the area. My favourite of the whole trip is the Sabah Foundation Building. The Sabah Foundation Building is a 30 storey circular glass building supported by high tensile steel rods through a central building. I cannot remember the exact number of glass they used though. Morris said that the glass is able to reflect 99% of the sun radiation which makes it an uber green building (though BCA is building a zero energy building). Believe it or not, it was built in 1977. An architectural and engineering feat. And it is one of only 4 such buildings in the world. I never would have thought to see such a building in KK! And it is a lonely building, sticking out like a sore thumb in an area of forest. -aeRieL-
