7 Nov., 08
Thursday and Friday have been rather unproductive days in terms of studies/ revision for end of semester exams. But it was a good getaway from the oppressive exam mood and the monotonous revision.

Thursday was a little of revision and a little of retail therapy. Lay Kuan and I shopped for Yu Jia’s present. But somehow I always get distracted when I step into accessories shops. Haha! I am looking for more rings! Hee!

Friday saw me running some errands long overdue, like returning the books to the library. I woke up late again. This time it is not the Curse of the Ninth Week, it’s more of week 11 and 12. Haha! I went to school for the Stats tutorial which I did not do beforehand. :x

Speaking of Stats, I got back the second test and guess what? I am 1 standard deviation below the mean again. Please call me a genius, people.

Anyway, after that, I took bus 10 from Pasir Panjang all the way to Esplanade where I switched to bus 196 which took me to Marine Parade. I went to return the books, then went over to Popular on impulse. I bought Jeffrey Archer’s newest novel, A Prisoner of Birth, and Shin’s newest album. The songs are quite different from his usual style, will take a while to get used to it. The design of the album is damn ugly, and the concept is unfathomable and the work seems amateurish. The first impression is quite bad.

Looking at the lyrics book, I seem to unconsciously find the names of the rest of the band (now defunct). All the familiar faces, familiar names are gone except for the guy who carried on the name. Somehow, it didn’t seem right for the band to split up. They have been playing together as a band for the better part of 10 years and less than 5 years in after they shot to fame, they split. Could the media be responsible for it? Or the record companies and the contracts? I wonder if they still keep in contact privately. It’d be such a pity if their work severed their decade long friendship.

Michael Crichton died on Tuesday to cancer. Sian. His passing means one less great author around, one less storyteller, a great loss to the literature society. State of Fear, The Great Train Robbery, Next, ...
