I watched Accuracy of Death (by Takeshi Kaneshiro) last night with my brother. I didn't know that the show was 1hour50min long! At the beginning, it had felt long because of the 1st subject that the Shinigami was supposed to interact with. But halfway through the first subject, the pace picked up and it was so much better from then on. What I really liked about the movie is the way the 3 seemingly unconnected subjects turn out to be connected after all. And the movie takes on a humourous and light-hearted tone to discuss about death. I'm not sure if I've ever seen Takeshi Kaneshiro doing a humourous roles before. The shows I remember him acting in are ususally the cool guy type or the serious type like The Warlords and Turn Left, Turn Right. He looks so much more charming in this movie, more personable.
However, there are some discrepencies in the movie that my brother pointed out and I think are valid. Like why the CD of the 1st subject were still being promoted in the 2nd subject's story when the yakuza guy has already said she has retired. hmmm, that sounds confusing but I don't really know how to make it clearer. You know, or you don't la. Haha. But it's nice movie overall if you don't think too much on the smaller details. :) But my brother did say it becomes nicer the second time you watched it (he was watching for the 2nd time last night). I found out the last movie I watched was 4 months ago, that Kungfu Dunk. And hor, I watched the last 5 movies with only 2 different people. It's always either Lay Kuan or my brother. I guess they are my movie campanions among other things. Hee hee. At least we like the almost the same movies, making it easier to agree on what movie to watch. :) -aeRieL-
