i've finally uploaded the BKK photos. yes, one month after i returned. haha. enjoy! i took damn long to do this!
Thailand's version of MRT called BTS. it has only 3 cabins though.so one train in SG is 2 trains over there. :P ![]() their ticketing machine. pretty much the same as the oldkind we had. their cards, again, like our old bus card. they do have the ez-link kind. the locals use that. ![]() view of Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) from the boat andwithin the compound. i guess it looked much better at dawn, with the sun behind it, thus earning that name.... look at the tiles. must have taken a damn long time to cover thewhole compound with it. it's everywhere - in Grand Palace, in Wat Arun! ![]() ![]() the Grand Palace. it's all gold and glitter. veryimpressive yet itimidating. still in the Grand Palace. a welcoming respite from the goldstructures everywhere. at some backyard of the Grand Palace, i think. that's my dad, with my sis and i at the back spoiling the picture. :P our boyfriends. know why i chose the one on the right? cos he'sholding on to a gold nugget! mUAHAHAHA! *must be practical ma* :P the famous reclining Buddha with mother-of-pearl for soles. verypretty. :) the 'hawker centre cum wet market' around the corner of ourhotel. they sell really delicious (much better than KFC) fried drumsticks for S$0.90 among other good food. regretted buying only 1... :( just behind the hotel i stayed in. look at that! Think EarthExhibition Hall! they have a lot of publicity on stopping global warming, being environmental friendly and things. so cool. i wish SG will make more effort in supporting these causes. but i guess economic development has protecting the environment taking a back seat. Suan Lum Night Bazaar. don't now if those who went for theHuamnities Field Trip in sec 2 when we were in TK remember this place or not. Krit Thai Mansion. the hotel we stayed in. not too bad exceptthat the cold water is damn cold and the hot water damn hot. cannot achieve a balance one. and the steps leading up to the hotel are ginormous! but it's only S$25 per night if my memory serves me well. you can't find that rate anywhere, not even at hotel 81. and it's opposite MBK shopping centre, beside National Stadium BTS station, opposite National Stadium and in front of Jim Thompson House. i would say it's a good location. :) the very complicated, haphazard, ridiculous traffic that can befound everywhere in Thailand. they've got A LOT of pink cabs. for pink loving at Chatuchak Weekend Market. we went there for 2 consecutivedays. so damn hot i sunburned and turned black. especially my forehead. grrr. my sis, mom and me. :) Siam Paragon. relaively high class shopping centre. the tinselballs are super cute and i took a picture with them but i was tooooo fat in that pic, so no one's going to see it. seriously, i've gained too much weight in these few years... *sigh* lunch at Outback Steak House. can be found at Millenia Walk inSG but it's at least 2 times cheaper in Bangkok. :D mine was some middle-raw steak. beef beef! SHIOK! counting down to the next green light... 112, 111, 110... cool,eh? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bang-Pa-In Palace or Summer Palace for theroyal family. there are eight (i think) different architeture styles in the compound some of which are in the photos. there's Chinese, Portugese, Thai, and some others that i forgot. another reclining Buddha. but this made of stone and has nomother-of-pearl soles. oh, this is in AYUTHAYA. capital of Thailand until the invasion of the Burmese. the whole compound is surrounded by these Buddhas. too religiousfor an atheist like me. ![]() some structure in Ayuthaya. love the angle at which it istaken. BTW, the photographer was my Dad. i just took his photos and displayed them. haha. given a chance, i would say they're just a pile of rubble (left behind after the battle). ya, i have no culture. a house with the river as the backyard. i would love to live inthis kind of house in the future. guess i'll have to move to Thailand since the ones at Sentosa is definitely out of my league.. the famous Buddha head wrapped by a Bodhi tree in Ayuthaya.bacause the stone is the same colour as the tree roots, it looks as if it is part of the tree. the more unfortunate Buddha statues that got caught in thecross bodyless. ok, i think i've just invented those words. :S and not to mention, the weathering (chemical weathering, i would say) taking palce on these statues. they're not in too good a shape these days... the end of the holiday. one week was over all too quickly. andi really miss my kids in Mae Hong Son. i think i will never get to see them ever again... my next travel destination shall be Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands. i am very interested to see the tea plantation and the hills and mountains and get a bleeding nose. haha. -aeRieL-
